Singalila Pass Trek - via Phoktey Dara, Phalut & Sandakphu

Singalila Pass Trek - via Phoktey Dara, Phalut & Sandakphu is a RockyFeet signature itinerary. This trail offers a view of the frozen waves of Tethys rising high above 8000m while standing on one of it at 3600m. Waving layers of mountains meet 4 of World’s highest 8000 meter peaks - Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu at the far vision. This trek offers a walk through Varsey Rhododendron sanctuary & Singalila National Park deep within the Himalayas. Rhododendrons bloom during late March to early June at varied altitudes.

Singalila pass trek Itinerary

Max Altitude:3684 m

Day 1: Arrival Day

Arrive at Uttarey by Evening from Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra via Jorthang.

Day 2: Trekking Day

Trek from Uttarey (2100m) to Achalley top (2870m ), within Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary – 8 kms, 4-5 hrs

Day 3: Trekking Day

Trek from Achaley Top to Kalijhar (3550m) via Agepani 2950m & Thulo Dhap 2840m (within Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary & Singalila National Park) – 7 kms, 5 – 6 hrs.

Day 4: Trekking Day

Trek from Kalijhar to Phalut (3630m) (within Singalila National Park) – 11 kms, 6 – 7 hrs. En route, cross the Singalila Pass & hike up to the Singalila Peak, the highest point of Singali la mountain range, 3684m

Day 5: Trekking Day

Trek from Phalut ( 3636m ) to Sandakphu ( 3600m), 21 kms, 7 – 8 hrs.  

Day 6: Trekking Day

Trek from Sandakphu to Timburey (2000m) (within Singalila National Park) – 12 kms, 5 – 6 hrs

Day 7: Departure Day

Leave early morning and trek for 2km to Shrikhola and board a vehicle for Darjeeling or Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra, 0.5 – 1 hours trek, 4-5 hours drive.

How To Reach


Bagdogra, which is about 10 kms(~6 miles) from Siliguri, is the nearest flying destination. Flights are available via Kolkata/Delhi/Mumbai.


By road, one can reach Siliguri/ NJP/ Bagdogra from Kolkata, 558 km. Roads are well connected but the condition may differ based on the season; majorly after the rainy season. NJP to Jorthang is 3-4 hrs, 85 km. Bagdogra airport is 30-45 mins to Siliguri/NJP. Shared cabs are available for Jorthang from NJP/Siliguri with per head 180 INR.Uttarey is about 70  km after Jorthang. Shared Jeep takes 3-4 hrs to reach Uttarey, per head charge 140 INR. While returning back from Srikhola 135 km (4-5 hrs) to Siliguri or Darjeeling 76 km (2.5 -3 hrs) cabs are available via Rimbik. Shared cab cost 200 INR for Drjeeling and 300 INR for NJP.


NJP (New Jalpaiguri) is the nearest railhead from Sikkim. Trains are well connected via Kolkata – HWH (Howrah railway station) and New Delhi.

Fees Include:

  • This trek is a combination of camping & tea house trek. Stay at on 2-3 sharing basis in Eco -Guest House or Home stay or Tent.
  • Food covers Day 1 Dinner To Day 7 breakfast. Every trekking day, breakfast and Dinner at the campsite and packed lunch during activities. Veg/Non-Veg as per preference.
  • Climbing and Forest Fees based on your Nationality
  • Sleeping bag, mat, crampon or other technical gear as required. All gears with pro quality standards.
  • Transportation – From Shrikhola to Darjeeling on the shared vehicle.


  • Transportation cost from Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra to Uttarey on Day 1 or from Darjeeling to Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra on Day 6.
  • Book an additional acclimatization day at Uttarray with the cost of 1500 INR, stay + breakfast+ Dinner.
  • Any other personal equipment or gear.
  • Offloading of a backpack can be done at an additional cost. 350 INR per 10 kg.
  • Any charges for the camera, if included.
  • Any insurance.
  • Anything is not mentioned in above inclusions.


  • Cancellation prior to 30 days from the start of the event– full refund.
  • Cancellation between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event– 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 15 days to the start of the event– No refund, but if you want to do the same or any other itinerary sometime later within a year, you can avail 50% of the cost paid as a discount on new Itinerary Fee.
  • There will be a deduction of 3.09% as bank processing charges on all refunds.

    • To get prepared, involve into brisk jogging, cycling, walking or any other sort of cardiac exercise routine at least 45 days prior to the event.
