Dzongri Winter Trek

Dzongri Winter Trek is a trail less travelled. Khangchendzonga National Park is probably one of the best places to travel and experience the alpine winter beyond 4000m. The breathtaking view of over 10 greater himalayan peaks from the Dzongri top or Dzongri La is the destination of this trek. But your trek is not about the destination. It's all about the journey through the mystic and magical snow covered forest of Khangchendzonga National Park.

We will try to serve a combination of multiple cuisines. The food menu will have enough varieties & nutrition balance to keep your test buds alive in the extreme winter & exhaustion. Keeping a balanced diet is important than anything to keep walking. Water is very important to stay fit at high and perform well. So, Keep a focus on a lot of water intake in different forms, like tea, coffee, hot soups, hot soupy noodles, boiled pulses, hot chocolates etc. Because in cold temperatures, you do not feel thirsty and also tend to ignore drinking water. Our diet plan will take care of all these concerns irrespective of veg/ non-veg.

We were two women from France and we felt very safe when doing the chadar trek on january 2019 with rocky feet team. The staff was fully skilled, excellent, very professionnal, and our guide Tashi was an exceptionnal guide that cares about the safety and the well being of each member of the group. The food ( veg and non veg ) was fresh, various and delicious every day. All staff (from the cook to the porters) were very kind , available , and taking good care of all of us. The administrative staff that pick us up at the airport and accompany us for the formalities of insurance , medical check up, was incredibly nice , professionnal and was present before the trek and after the trek till our last day to the airport. We highly recommend rocky feet .read more

We went on Kang yatse 2 expedition in July'18. It was a wonderful experience. For a particular travel/trek to be memorable, it is important that the services you are being provided are up to the mark. And Rockyfeet, no doubt, was quite successful in that. Starting from the arrangement of accommodation at Leh, the quality of food, tents and sleeping bags on the trek, the hygiene maintained, the quality of technical instruments used for climbing, the profiles of their guides and the hospitality shown- everything was perfect. I would recommend anyone without a second thought to go with Rockyfeet. It will be a lifetime experience, for sure!read more

Whatever, it maybe the first experience or last experience; once a experience always a experience. But trekking experience with Rocky Feet was just amazing. I don't know about other trekking organisations because it was my first trekking to singalila pass trek. But I am confident enough that I don't need to contact any other organizations in near future. Although a few words are not enough to describe to whole trekking experience, but till I want to highlight some points are, 1)Every night at dinner place there was a team meeting how to fulfill the trekkers desire more and more and make the experience more passionate. 2) There were another 2-3 groups at the same campsite. But I will say our tent were far better than others as design point of view. 3)And no words to describe the hospitality of supporting team. So special thanks to our team leader Titash and obviously the whole RockyFeet team.read more

This is the first time I am reviewing a trip/journey. So please ignore the mistakes from my side. The long waited trip finally happened only because of our trek leader Titash. PROS: 1. Our very own Salim Ali and not so strict trek leader Mr. Titash! Thanks to him for spotting nearly about 100 species of birds during this trek. 2. The local team and trek guide, John daju. I am truly short of words to describe their hospitality. 3. Time to time routine body check up and healthy diet on each occasion. 4. Very good camping material specially sleeping bags. CONS: (read Suggestions) 1. Nothing as such. But I would like to have camp site in serenity rather to have it by the side of a trekkers hut (in Phalut) or in the middle of the village (in Gorkhey). I would prefer camping site like in Thulu Dhaap or in Kalijhar any time. Thanks to Rockyfeet. Hope to trek with you again, very soon 🙂read more

„...Sometimes accidents can happen“ is what we got told on our first day. And so we accidentally fell in love with Sikkim. We did the 7-day Singalila trek with Rocky in Feb 18 and could not have made a better choice. All the friendly and warmly people that have been with us in those days made this trip a very unique experience. Everything was well organized and food was really delicious and surely there was no risk of starving :). We also really liked the trek where we could enjoy a breathtaking view of the Kangchenjunga which was a great highlight of our trip. Thanks again also to our trek leader, Wriju, whose company we really appreciated and who also became a good friend.read more

I have done 2 high altitude treks with RockyFeet. I still do not know how they make money. Their level of attention to health and safety, selection of crew members, food and accommodation is world class. The itinerary they design is not only well crafted but also organic, it always leaves one with more than what they signed up for. They are in it for the adventure and for conservation. Be it removing plastic at 15,000 FT or not lighting a bonfire to protect the soil, you see genuine passion and interest in their trek leads and it certainly outlives the trek. I hope you will give them a chance. They are a group of bright & talented naturalists/explorers/adventure seekers or whatever the word is for these kind of misfits.read more

Was part of 2nd batch of Chader Trek 2018, and What a Memorable experience it was ! I think that is what you get when you bank upon guys who are passionate about what they are doing. Rather than outsourcing the hard stuff, they are walking alongside you through thick and thin - to tackle the next obstacle together, to show you the unseen, to celebrate with you on your achievements. From handling the logistics to the safety and comfort (yes you heard it right), everything was taken care of. To elaborate, getting a different meal everyday according to a personalized hand picked menu and to get wrapped up in two Sleeping Bags with extra liner and a hot water bottle to beat the cold at -30 C, sheer luxury ! On the safety side, daily monitoring of oxygen levels of the group, carrying of an oxygen cylinder for the emergency needs and the use of micro crampons so that you can walk freely continuing in your natural walking style ensuring you to explore and appreciate your surroundings even more rather than keeping your gaze downwards worrying of the slippery surface , it was a big boon for me as i could use my dslr freely without the fear of the fall. And to top it all, Arnab da and E.T the harbingers of a new travel era where nature will always get preference over money and where indulging outdoors would not mean spoiling the sensitive ecosystem. RockyFeet is not a business venture, its a dream, a vision of a brave man fullfilling the only cause that matters, conserving nature for the future generations by encouraging you to feel, see and get in touch with nature, just the way nature wants you to. When you sign up with RockyFeet, you go out to explore, you get inspired and you return back as a sensible traveller. Thanks a lot for the good times RockyFeet. Keep inspiring!read more

Insane. Breathtaking. Exhilarating. Just back from a beautiful beautiful world. Never dreamt of it, never imagined or seen or known - The Zanskar. A month ago I signed up for the mighty Chadar trek, and man, it was just mind blowing. Never been to such an amazingly organized expedition and experience with full of surprises, safety, fun, pamper, motivation and customizations! Everything was so nicely set up! From airport pick ups, to pre-obtained permits, gorgeous homestays, delicious food, priority on health and safety, an organized trip to in and around the town, proper time provided to rest and recreate, and of course, a lot of Cafe hopping. The itinerary was so relaxed, didn't even feel if I was actually a couple thousand miles away from home, and top it all, the sweetest set of professionals running this NGO - Etosha and Arnab! Six people, six days, and unlimited surprises right in the middle of nowhere. Somewhere, we people 'achieve' experiences, while this group, had literally 'created' them. Thank you, for such memories! My friends and I did a trip to Leh Ladakh this August and we are glad we decided to go via RockyFeet. Things you'd want to do in your trip are to enjoy, explore, meet new people and basically do whatever you feel like doing, right? Well, RockyFeet had all four of them covered. We enjoyed… Usually when something goes wrong we call up the tour operator to sort it out. RockyFeet didn't give us even one chance to do that. Everything from start to finish was taken care of. Everything happened like clockwork. All we had to do was enjoy, which we did. We explored… We travelled a lot of places there (Srinagar, Kargil, Leh, Nubra Valley, Pangong etc.) and we got the best accommodation the place could offer, that too at good prices. RockyFeet went the extra mile by getting us tents in a good spot beside Pangong Lake where we didn’t have to feel the full brunt of the harsh winds throughout the night. Very thoughtful of them. We met many good people… RockyFeet's connections are with quality people. The boat house owner in Srinagar, the drivers and the hotel employees were all good, courteous and friendly people. Each and every one of them took care of us as they would their own people. We did whatever we felt like doing… My friends and I are extremely indecisive and we didn’t want to be confined to a set plan. So there were many changes and last minute improvisations from our side and RockyFeet handled these random requests with great professionalism and patience. The highlight of our trip was meeting Arnab Ghosh and Etosha. They are genuinely nice and friendly people who did a splendid job in taking care of us when we were there. Turns out they’re interesting and fun people too. They accompanied us for river rafting and it was a lot of fun with them around. Thank you guys. Loved the trip. Would choose you guys in a heartbeat for our next trip. BTW, there was a nice surprise at the end of our trip, courtesy RockyFeet. Hope the other reviews haven’t spoiled it already.read more

We did Kang Yatse with Rocky Feet. It is very easy for me to say that it was one of the best organised treks I have been a part of. Etosha and the team were experienced and were prepared for everything. I had my low phases when I was not keeping too well, they knew what would work best. I bounced back. The food was great. Our trek to Kang Yatse 2 was the first time we travelled with RockyFeet. Etosha accompanied us on the trek. She was a great leader, making sure even the last trekker was motivated enough and encouraged everyone to walk together as a team. She was very considerate of everyone's needs (especially food) and kept a check on everyone's health throughout. Our kitchen staff, porters and guides were all great company too and very efficient. Their expertise and professionalism showed every single day, and the team managed to establish a great rapport with us. The time we spent with Etosha & Arnab (before the trek) was a great learning experience. I am a member of the RockyFeet society. The immense efforts of Boro ( Arnab Ghosh ) to raise the organization like a single parent, working late nights for years, in spite of having a day job is what is taking it ahead towards achieving a dream of a sustainable future by opening up people's senses towards the natural world and spreading the idea of conservation as a way of life with a three pronged approach; Explore, educate and conserve. The seeds of passion towards Nature and dedication to a cause, that he has planted in the rest of us has helped me realize my dreams in life and led me to the long and winding path of becoming a true RockyFeet myself. It also shows in the appreciation that we have received unanimously from all our eco-tourists, school children we have worked with, agencies that have partnered with us in our ventures and everyone else I can think of. Travel with RockyFeet to learn more about this greener approach to life and to raise a fund for the environment to be used in our educational and conservational ventures.read more

I have been to Chadar trek in January 2017 with RockyFeet. It was one of the best organized treks I have been to. One good thing was trekking in small batches which made it comfortable for both trekkers and organizers. There was a good coordination between trek leaders and local people for planning the trek. Considering extreme weather of Ladakh in January, we did not face any problem related to accommodation and food. Most importantly, we had a great time throughout the trek. The trek was completed safely as scheduled. The things I liked about RockyFeet are including local people in the trek and encouraging responsible eco-friendly trekking. Rockyfeet is not your ordinary trek operator. They are more of visionaries, with a plan to explore the world, conserve the indigenous habitats and educate naive travelers like you and me. Their techie-turned-nomad CEO, Arnab, agreed to take a group of five to Har ki dun. And quite honestly, none of us knew what we were signing up for. Our group had experienced and first-time trekkers but there was never a fall-out. Arnab and the village guides made sure that we walked at a pace comfortable to us. Expecting maggi and nutribars at that elevation, we were all pleasantly surprised with three course meals prepared by the village cook. Thanks to the generous mules, we never carried any luggage. The focus remained on the majestic mountains surrounding us. The trek was also perfectly designed to our fitness levels so we neither felt too exerted, nor too relaxed! Har ki dun means the valley of gods, and rightly so. The views are spectacular. And no photograph can do justice to it. But this trek was a lot more than the Himalayan scenes. It was about village life, community living, self-discipline and really caring for the environment and its inhabitants. With no technology to entertain us, we would laugh and chat for hours around the fire. It was a different life indeed. Now that we are back to our usual routines, workplaces and homes, life seems to be going on just the way it was. But we all feel the change. Perhaps we have become more empathetic, perhaps we have learned to live with the bare necessities, perhaps we are more sensitive of everything and everyone around us. Perhaps. This trek was more than just wanderlust. It was more of a self-awareness exercise with my lungs screaming for oxygen at 3900 metres above sea level. And I completely credit Arnab and Rockyfeet for letting us experience this level of rejuvenation in our lifetime. Dazzling blues skies, heart-warming emotions, sweet melodies of birds, wood-fire roasted food, moods and hues of the great Himalayas. Sigh! How I long to go back..read more

Well, the experience was good and the team too.We joined them for Bramhatal trek, and they took well care from our... pickup point to drop. They did cover the pickup and drop in their expense, along with homestay for a small group and mule expenses for the trek. All in all, I'd say better to go with them if you have a group of more than 6 people.read more

Being my first trek, I was super vigilant in getting the best operator on board to help me with the preparation and the... overall organisation.I narrowed down on Rockyfeet after a lot of deliberation. It was indeed an excellent choice. Arnab and his team in doing a fabulous job.I felt that Rockyfeet was able to induce a personal touch with the participants which helped in making a tight bond amongst all.The overall organisation was immaculate in terms of guides (Mr. Lappu and Mr. Sonam), food (awesome cooks), porters (Lifeline of the trek), tenting facilities, equipments Etc.The group was well cared for during the entire trek. Rockyfeet has definitly proved my choise to be right and I shall recommend all to go ahead with the same. With Arnab, felt like being with my own brother. He comes in with immense knowledge and experiences to share. I do recomend that his knowledge be exploited to the fullest. He was extremely patient and cheerful in answering all my queries with his own personal experiences. I left Leh with a warm heart and new friends and am already planning on the next trek with Rockyfeet.Kudos Guys, you made my trip!Best Regards,Hiteshread more

All reviews are paid and fake. They ask their customer to write great things about them and in return promise to give... tshirts but that too they fail to giveHere's my review after doing chadar trek with Rockyfeet Arrangements were ok but biggest disappointment is it has been 8 months and still they haven't given the trek certificate. Guys choose your trek company wisely I am sure other companies provide trek completion certificate on the last day of trek and now regret choosing Rockyfeetread more
