Kuari Pass Trek

The Kuari (virgin) Pass trek, is a highly varied & scenic winter trek that passes through three lesser Passes & five major rivers - the Alaknanda, the Mandakini, the Birgnanga & the Dhauli Ganga, the tributaries of the Ganges.The Kuari pass is one of the most beautiful treks, famous for the enchanting view of the snow-clad peaks of Neelkanth (6596m), Kamet (7756m), Mukut Parbat, Mana, Nilgiri Parbat, Trishul (7120m), Hardeol, Dronagiri, Rishi Pahar, Kalinka, Chaukhamba (7128m), Lampak, Changabang (6864m), Ronchi, Bithartoli and others. The trail was named after Lord Curzon, a British viceroy, ‘Curzon Trail’, who was a keen trekker & it is said that in 1905 the path was specially improved so that he could trek.

Kuari Pass Trek Itinerary


Max Altitude : 3650 m

Day 1: Arrival Day:Start from Haridwar Railway Station/Dehradun Airport to Joshimath (1875 m) early in the morning (278 Km / 9-10 hours ). Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 2: Trekking Day: From Joshimath (1875 m), another 30 mins drive to Auli (2500 m), followed by a trek to Chitrakanta  Forest Camp (2900 m). Drive: 12 Km/ 30 Mins, Trek: 5-6 hours.

Day 3: Trekking Day: Chitrakanta  Forest Camp (2900 m) to Khulara (2940 m) via Kuari Pass (3650 m);(12 km, 5-6 hours).

Day 4: Trekking Day: Walk from Khulara (2940 m) to Dhak Road head (1870 m) followed by a drive to Joshimath. Overnight stay at Hotel. Drive: 16 km / 30 min.

Day 5: Departure Day: Drive from Joshimath to Haridwar Railway Station/Dehradun Airport. (269 Km / 8-9 hours)

How To Reach Joshimath

Flight

Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 48 km from the Haridwar. There is a daily flight from Delhi for Dehradun, reach Haridwar one day early if coming by flight.

Road

There is a regular bus service from Delhi to Haridwar, from Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate.Usually, buses drop you at Haridwar bus station. From there you have to come to Haridwar Railway Station. Tata Sumo or similar vehicles are available on share basis from Haridwar Railway Station 6:30 am onwards and reach Joshimath by 5:00 pm

Terms & Conditions

Fees Include:

  • Stay at Guest houses on 2-3 sharing basis.
  • Stay at a campsite on 2-3 sharing basis in the tent.
  • Food covers dinner on Day 1 to packed lunch on Day 4, 4 meals -Breakfast, Snacks, and Dinner at the campsite and packed lunch during activities. Meals will be Veg /Non-Veg as per preferences.
  •  Sleeping bag, sleeping mat, tent. All gears with pro-quality standards.
  • Services of experienced, Exploration Leader and support staff with due knowledge of the terrain and natural elements to enrich your trek.
  • Climbing or Forest fees based on your Nationality.

Exclusions:

  • Transport cost to Joshimath.
  • Acclimatization day at base camp with the cost of 1500 INR, stay with 3 meals viz. breakfast lunch and dinner after coming down from trek.
  • Any other personal equipment or gear.
  • Offloading of a personal weight can be done at an additional cost of 400 INR per day up to 10Kg.
  • Any charges for the camera, if included.
  • The cost involved in any change in the itinerary due to bad weather or terrain  / stay on account of flight cancellation due to bad weather~ ill health~ roadblocks and/or any factors beyond control.
  • Anything is not mentioned above as inclusions.

Cancellation:

  • Cancellation prior to 30 days from the start of the event– full refund.
  • Cancellation between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event– 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 15 days to the start of the event– No refund, but if you want to do the same or any other itinerary sometime later within a year, you can avail 50% of the cost paid as a discount on new Itinerary Fee.
  • There will be a deduction of 3.09% as bank processing charges on all refunds.

Fitness


    • Enrolled participants should be in a good state fitness to enjoy the trek more.
    • Better acclimatization can keep you ahead to enjoy the trek. After confirmation of booking and during the trek our team & exploration leader will cover this area in detail.
    • To get prepared, involve into brisk jogging, cycling, walking or any other sort of cardiac exercise routine at least 45 days prior to the event. Prepare a fitness routine on your own
